On September 16, the 2026 ASEAN Urban Rail Transit Supply and Demand Matchmaking Conference took place at the Nanning Rail Transit Sci-Tech Innovation Industrial Park.

The event was hosted by the ASEAN Metro Cooperation Committee of the China Association of Metros and jointly organized by Nanning Rail Transit Investment Group Co., Ltd. and other organizations. At the conference, representatives from competent industry authorities and industry experts from Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and other countries engaged in exchanges on frontier technologies and practical experience regarding rail transit internationalization strategies and artificial intelligence (AI) empowered rail construction. They also exchanged views on industrial cooperation, discussed development trends of the rail transit industry, and explored new opportunities for cross-border industrial cooperation.

Themed “Collaboration and Sharing for Win-Win Development”, the conference focused on innovative achievements in rail transit planning and design, engineering construction, and operations and maintenance, particularly in the areas of “smart, green, integrated, and innovative” development. It facilitated in-depth exchanges and supply-and-demand matchmaking regarding technology, standards, talent, and projects to advance practical cooperation between China and ASEAN in the rail transit sector.

In the morning, representatives from Chinese and international government agencies, rail transit authorities, leading enterprises, and research institutions took the stage to share cutting-edge technologies and practical experiences. Representatives from Nanning Rail Transit Investment Group Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Metro Group Co., Ltd. shared their perspectives on the internationalization of rail transit, while the representative from PCI Technology Group Co., Ltd. showcased AI empowered technological achievements in rail construction. Representatives of relevant authorities and experts from Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam also delivered thematic presentations on rail transit planning, construction, and operations in their respective countries, as well as on industry development and AI. The session was lively and cordial. The event also featured the release of Vietnamese, Thai, and Malay versions of the Terminology for Urban Rail Transit Operations and Services in ASEAN Countries. Furthermore, an agreement was signed between Liuzhou Railway Vocational Technical College and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, laying the foundation for friendly cooperation between China’s urban rail transit industry and ASEAN countries.

In the afternoon, attendees toured the Nanning Rail Transit Network Operation Control Center (NOCC) and the Nanning Rail Transit Sci-Tech Innovation Industrial Park, gaining firsthand experience of Nanning Rail Transit’s achievements in smart dispatching, technological innovation, and real-world AI applications. During the supply-and-demand matchmaking presentations and promotions session, and salon discussion, representatives from numerous Chinese construction, operations, and technology companies engaged in face-to-face talks with delegates from ASEAN countries. They exchanged ideas and expressed intentions regarding project collaboration, technology sharing, joint talent cultivation, and industrial co-building, laying a solid foundation for future in-depth cooperation.

This event marks a significant practical achievement celebrating the first anniversary of the ASEAN Metro Cooperation Committee of the China Association of Metros. Nanning Rail Transit Investment Group will fully discharge its duties as the leading organization. By proactively leveraging its role as a platform and capitalizing on the geographical advantages of the “Nanning Channel”, the Group will actively promote the coordination of industry resources. Furthermore, it will establish a regular multilateral dialogue platform integrating government, enterprise, industry, academia, and research. This will facilitate seamless communication between China’s domestic rail transit industry and the relevant regulatory authorities, research institutions, and universities in ASEAN countries, thereby steadily deepening and solidifying practical cooperation between China and ASEAN in the urban rail transit sector.

This conference serves as both a comprehensive showcase of China’s innovations in rail transit and a vital link for deepening practical cooperation between China and ASEAN in this sector. This conference will pool the expertise of China’s rail transit industry in areas such as technology sharing, joint talent cultivation, and collaborative industrial development. These efforts will further pave the way for practical cooperation between China’s rail transit sector and ASEAN, continuously injecting industrial momentum into transportation connectivity between China and ASEAN.
